Frequently asked questions

Everything worth checking before you place your order.

Prescriptions

Do I need to post my original paper prescription?

Yes. Australian law requires the original pen-signed prescription before we can dispatch any prescription medication. If we already hold a valid script with repeats, you can re-order online without posting anything.

Can I buy prescription medicine without a script?

No. A valid prescription from a registered Australian vet is required. Notes, photos of labels, or old packaging can't be accepted in place of a script.

What if my vet won't write a prescription?

Most Australian vets are happy to write scripts, but they aren't legally obligated to. If yours declines, you're welcome to seek a second opinion. Call us on 1300 676 146 and we'll do our best to help you find a vet who can assist.

Repeats

If my script has repeats, will you hold it?

Yes. We hold your original script with any remaining repeats on file, so you don't need to re-post it before each order. Repeat orders are faster and skip the postage step.

Can I get my repeat prescription returned?

Absolutely. Your prescription is your property and our pharmacist will return it on request. Return postage costs may apply.

Medication

Are your medications the same as my vet's?

Yes. We source from the same Australian-approved suppliers that stock vet clinics, and every product is TGA or APVMA approved. We also offer generic alternatives and compounded medications where suitable.

Why are your prices so much lower than my vet?

As a dedicated online pharmacy, our lower overheads and bulk purchasing let us pass real savings on to you — up to 67% off vet prices — on the same genuine, approved medications.

Who dispenses my pet's medication?

Every order is reviewed, confirmed and dispensed by our partner AHPRA-registered Australian pharmacist, in line with national and state legislation.

Shipping

How long will my order take?

Eligible orders placed before 11am* are dispatched the same business day, with standard and express options available Australia-wide. See our shipping & delivery page for full details.

Where do I send the original script?

Pills for Paws, PO Box 8155, North Road, VIC 3187.

It's a free Reply Paid address — no stamp needed. For urgent orders, use a tracked option like Express or Registered Post.
